Position Summary
The Program Officer will report to the Program Director and play a pivotal role in shaping and executing high-impact initiatives that support the public health workforce. The position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the nation’s leading health philanthropies, helping design and implement programs that influence public health infrastructure, capacity, policy, and communication at a national scale.
This role involves leading and managing key initiatives, driving collaboration with external stakeholders, and contributing to the Foundation’s strategy to support governmental public health systems. It requires both strategic thinking and tactical execution, with the Program Officer serving as a bridge between internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex, high-priority Foundation projects, ensuring effective planning, implementation, and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with internal departments (including communications and evaluation) to align strategies and optimize program outcomes.
- Maintain and manage relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and grantees to ensure projects align with both the Foundation’s mission and the needs of the public health sector.
- Facilitate meetings, prepare agendas, manage follow-ups, and lead discussions as needed.
- Contribute to content development, including blogs, commentaries, and scholarly publications.
- Support the planning of strategic events and special meetings for the Foundation.
- Provide insight and candid feedback to leadership, informing decisions that influence the public health workforce.
- Conduct research, develop presentations, and draft communications for both internal and external audiences.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to advance equity-centered policy, practice, and program outcomes.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a mission-driven public health professional with a track record of strategic leadership and cross-sector collaboration. Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree required (MPH, MPP, MPA, or MBA preferred).
- 5–8 years of relevant experience, particularly within governmental public health systems or organizations focused on health communication and workforce development.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to balance detail-oriented execution and big-picture strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex partnerships and manage high-level stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience in authoring professional publications or presentations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing multiple priorities with professionalism and discretion.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience managing vendor contracts and contributing to budget development is preferred.
Work Environment & Benefits
The de Beaumont Foundation offers a hybrid work model based out of its Bethesda, MD office. All employees are expected to participate in in-person bi-monthly meetings and two annual week-long staff gatherings.
Compensation for this full-time role is commensurate with experience and falls within a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $115,000. The Foundation also offers a robust benefits package, including:
