Financial Accountant

• Job Type: Full Time , Onsite

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Oversee general ledger entries and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable/receivable, and other balance sheet items.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory reporting requirements (VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.).
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Liaise with auditors and support the audit process with required documentation.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records for reporting and auditing purposes.
• Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
• Summarize current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
• Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents
• Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
• Guide accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions
• Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
• Secure financial information by completing database backups
• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and generally accepted accounting procedures
• Participate in financial standards setting and forecast process
• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• ACA, ACCA, or ICAN certification (or in advanced stages of certification) is preferred.
• Minimum of 4–5 years experience in accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or similar).
• Excellent Excel and analytical skills.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and integrity.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards, gaining experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues
