Applications are now open for the fully funded Iceland Writers Retreat Program 2026. This program will cover your return airfare, accommodation, and participation fee. The IWR invites writers from all over the world, with any background or level of experience, to apply for this competition. It will take Place from April 15-19, 2026, in ReykjavÃk. The Program lasts for five days, and it aims to connect talented writers and enhance their writing skills. All interested candidates are welcome; you do not need to be a professional writer, and IELTS is not required either. More details are below.

The 2025 Retreat is scheduled to run from April 15-19, 2026.

What’s Included in the Partial Funding?
Partial funding covers the participant fee only, and neither accommodation nor round-trip flights.

Eligibility Criteria
- Anyone who is aged 18 or over can apply.
- They welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and with all levels of writing experience.
- The Competition is open to nationals of all countries.
- IELTS is not required, but proficiency in English is required.
- The recipients will be chosen based primarily on two factors:
- The potential they demonstrate (or have demonstrated) as a writer.
- They need financial support to be able to attend.
