
The Applications are now open for the University of Tokyo MEXT Scholarship 2026 in Japan. This fully funded scholarship, provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), is available to applicants pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. degree for the October 2026 intake. The University of Tokyo has 15 Graduate Schools, each comprising various departments. You can apply for Master’s and Ph.D. programs across these schools. IELTS is not required if your previous degree was taught at a university with an English-language medium of instruction. More details are below.

Graduate School of Science MEXT Scholarship: The Graduate School of Science is accepting applications for the 2026 MEXT University Recommended Scholarship. The school has five departments: Physics, Astronomy, Earth and Planetary Science, Chemistry, and Biological Sciences.
Department of Civil Engineering: The Civil Engineering Department is also accepting applications for the 2026 MEXT Scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria
- The scholarship is open to all Nationals (except Japanese).
- Applicants who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree can apply.
- An applicant must have a minimum CGPA of 2.30.
- Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1991.
- Meet the English Language Requirements.
- Satisfy the University Admission Requirements.
