This announcement is fron Ecoclime Africa and it is the final call for applications to the EA Scholars Program 2025, a flagship continental initiative dedicated to identifying, developing, and supporting Africa’s next generation of climate leaders.
The program aims to nurture young professionals and emerging leaders between the ages of 18 and 35 who exhibit a demonstrated commitment to driving climate action across diverse sectors, including education, community development, science, policy, and advocacy.
The EA Scholars Program serves as a strategic platform where selected participants engage with cutting-edge climate research, refine their leadership capacities, and directly contribute to advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs) in their local and national contexts.
In a rapidly warming world where Africa bears a disproportionate burden of climate change impacts, the EA Scholars Program seeks to equip young leaders with the knowledge, skills, and networks required to champion transformative solutions.
Deadline: 20 July 2025
Eligibility: African youth aged 18–35
Program Type: Climate Leadership and Research Development
Organiser: Ecoclime Africa
Program Goals and Structure
The overarching goal of the EA Scholars Program is to empower young Africans to become influential agents of change within the climate resilience ecosystem. By participating in this highly selective program, scholars are expected to:
- Strengthen climate literacy and policy knowledge through engagement with leading researchers, practitioners, and thought leaders across the continent.
- Contribute to original climate research that reflects local realities, indigenous knowledge systems, and region-specific adaptation strategies.
- Lead community-based climate initiatives, drawing from a systems thinking approach to sustainability and development.
- Join a pan-African network of emerging climate leaders, enabling long-term collaboration, peer support, and joint ventures beyond the program period.
The program includes online and in-person engagements, workshops, expert-led seminars, mentorship, and collaborative project development. Selected scholars will have opportunities to present their work at regional climate forums, receive ongoing guidance from sector experts, and access seed funding for high-impact community projects.
