Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Engineer Intern to support our engineering team in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic networks. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in the telecommunications industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design and layout of fiber optic cable routes and network infrastructure
- Support the installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cables
- Work with GIS tools to document and update fiber paths and network diagrams
- Perform signal loss measurements, OTDR testing, and troubleshoot network issues under supervision
- Prepare reports and technical documentation on fiber performance and installations
- Collaborate with engineers, field technicians, and project managers on active deployments
- Follow industry best practices and safety standards during all field and lab work
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field
- Basic understanding of fiber optic principles, network topologies, and signal transmission
- Familiarity with tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and splicing machines is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to work in both office and field environments
