
Dr. Jason Hawkins is recruiting 1-2 students to conduct transdisciplinary research related to methodological innovation in sustainable behaviour and systems analysis starting in 2025/2026 at the University of Calgary.
Full funding will be available through multiple sources, including opportunities for a research and/or teaching assistantship.
The student will be part of the Transportation and Ecological Choice by Households (TECH) Group within the Department of Civil Engineering at the Schulich School of Engineering.

Graduate Student Positions – 2025/2026
Qualifications:
- At least a Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) in civil engineering, economics, geography, or a related quantitative field.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including technical writing experience.
- Background (or ability to learn) in advanced econometric methods, including choice modeling, statistics, or machine learning.
- Coding experience in R, Python, or a similar language
Additional Considerations:
While a technical degree is preferred, an interest in public policy, philosophy, and/or a general curiosity are significant assets for participation in the TECH Group.
