
The International Disability Alliance (IDA), a global network working to advance the rights of persons with disabilities, is inviting qualified professionals, organizations, and advocacy groups to apply for current consultancies and grant opportunities. While no full-time positions are available at this time, IDA and its partners are offering impactful ways to engage with the global disability rights movement.
I. Consultancy Opportunity – Documentary Film Series (CRPD@20)

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the International Disability Alliance is commissioning a documentary-style film series that will bring to life the powerful stories of persons with disabilities, their representative organizations (OPDs), and milestones that have shaped the global disability rights movement.
Scope of the Consultancy:
- Develop a compelling global film series in documentary style.
- Capture voices and experiences from diverse geographic regions.
- Highlight major developments in the CRPD journey, featuring community leaders, advocates, and key moments in the movement.
- Ensure full accessibility of all audiovisual content (subtitles, audio descriptions, sign language interpretation).
Who Can Apply:
- Experienced media production houses with a strong background in rights-based storytelling and international development content.
- Proven ability to deliver inclusive and accessible video materials.
- Experience collaborating with OPDs or marginalized communities is strongly preferred.
- Applicants must demonstrate capacity to manage multilingual, multicultural production processes across different regions.
Deliverables:
- A series of short documentary films (exact number specified in the Terms of Reference).
- Complete post-production materials in accessible formats.
- A dissemination strategy tailored for global and regional audiences.

II. ESCR Microgrants Initiative 2025

The International Disability Alliance (IDA) in partnership with the African Disability Forum (ADF) is launching the 2025 ESCR Microgrants Initiative, a funding opportunity aimed at strengthening grassroots disability rights advocacy in Africa.
Grant Overview:
- Six national or sub-national Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) in Eastern, Southern, and Central Africa will be selected.
- Each selected organization will receive a microgrant of USD 6,500.
- Grants will fund short-term, community-driven projects that promote economic, social, and cultural rights (ESCR) of persons with disabilities.
Eligible Applicants:
- Registered OPDs operating at national or sub-national levels.
- Based in the following regions: Eastern, Southern, or Central Africa.
- Actively engaged in advocacy for disability rights, particularly focused on ESCR (education, employment, health, housing, etc.).
- Committed to inclusive, participatory project planning and implementation.
Application Requirements:
- Complete application form (available in both English and French).
- Clear project proposal outlining objectives, activities, timelines, and intended impact.
- Budget plan demonstrating effective use of the USD 6,500 grant.
- Demonstrated organizational capacity to implement the proposed initiative.
