Imaginable Futures (IF) is a global philanthropic investment firm dedicated to shaping a world where learning unlocks opportunity and every individual can thrive. With a deep-rooted commitment to educational equity, IF partners with communities, organizations, and peer funders across Brazil, Kenya, and the United States to catalyze sustainable change. As a venture of The Omidyar Group, IF has committed over $330 million to more than 265 organizations advancing systemic transformation in education.

The organization believes meaningful progress is achieved through collaboration and shared purpose. Their investments aim to build and strengthen equitable systems of learning, particularly for historically underserved populations such as Black, Brown, and Indigenous learners.

About the Role

The Manager, Learning & Impact (internally titled Lead Manager) is a newly established position tasked with advancing a culture of learning and shared strategic practice across the organization. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works closely with internal teams, the Managing Partner, and external partners to enhance IF’s strategic and learning capacities.

The role centers on aligning internal practices with field-level and systemic impact goals. Through collaboration with program teams and advisors, the Manager will co-develop learning systems that help IF refine strategy, assess outcomes, and foster adaptive learning across multiple geographies.

Core Responsibilities

Cultivating a Culture of Learning and Leadership:

  • Codify and refine a shared strategic practice to support decision-making and learning across the organization.
  • Develop knowledge-sharing tools and frameworks that strengthen the strategic and analytical capabilities of internal teams, particularly the Learning Core Team.
  • Lead the evolution of the Learning Core Team and support its integration into the organization’s broader strategic vision.
  • Disseminate insights and learning strategies externally through written publications, presentations, and active participation in philanthropic and educational communities.
  • Partner with Communications and Program Leadership to surface insights from program activities and communicate them across IF and beyond.

  • Coordinate and manage external evaluators and research partners, including overseeing interviews, data analysis, and synthesis.
  • Deliver synthesized insights for annual reporting, board presentations, and organizational learning.
  • Oversee grantee perception surveys, analyze results, and guide response actions.

Supporting Strategic Planning and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with leadership to operationalize IF’s strategic plan and annual priorities.
  • Establish rhythms for reflection and course correction, enabling strategic agility and alignment.
  • Identify intersections across programs to anticipate emerging opportunities and needs.
  • Offer support to program teams in strategic development, helping guide direction with a focus on learning, impact, and complexity.
  • Facilitate cross-program learning and ensure shared insights are actionable and accessible.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled data analysis tools (or a willingness to quickly learn).
  • Comfort with ambiguity, independent time management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 5–7 times annually across IF’s operational geographies.
