ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Lori Systems is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transport Manager to lead transport operations in Nigeria. This individual will be responsible for managing end-to-end delivery execution, growing a reliable network of transporter partners, optimizing costs, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. You will play a critical role in achieving Lori’s growth and profitability targets by driving operational excellence, building strong stakeholder relationships, and leading a high-performing team.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Transporter & Partner Management

  • Build and grow strategic relationships with new and existing transport providers.
  • Negotiate favorable rates, terms, and capacity commitments using market insights.
  • Manage transporter onboarding, compliance, performance, and retention.
  • Resolve transporter issues swiftly to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

Operational Execution & Problem Solving

  • Get creative to resolve issues at client or loading locations to avoid service delays.
  • Gather operational feedback from transporters and clients to improve platform reliability and performance.
  • Lead execution for your assigned business segment, ensuring high-quality service and consistent delivery KPIs..

Customer Management & Growth

  • Manage order planning and execution to meet 100% customer fulfillment KPIs.
  • Maintain strong communication with customers and resolve issues proactively.
  • Forecast demand and align transporter supply accordingly.
  • Identify growth opportunities with existing customers and drive repeat business.

Business Ownership & Growth

  • Own the Profit & Loss (P&L) of your assigned transport business operations.
  • Develop and implement clear execution plans that align with the broader business strategy.
  • Drive growth of customer and transporter base while maximizing share of wallet from existing partners.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including cost, service level, and utilization.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of transport coordinators and operations staff.
  • Set clear performance expectations and support team development through coaching and feedback.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.

Strategic & Cross-functional Initiatives

  • Champion the business framework and processes that enhance consistency, scalability, and quality.
  • Ensure timely collection on all invoices within the agreed timelines (from gate-out to payment).
  • Partner with Product, Tech, Finance, and Business Development teams to improve tools and workflows.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients and ensure transport readiness for new market segments.

WHAT IT TAKES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5  years of progressive experience in 3rd party Logistics, transport operations management within high-growth or technology environments.
  • Proven experience managing transporter relationships and delivering consistent operational performance.
  • Ability to communicate in 2 major local languages in Nigeria is an added advantage
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and P&L management experience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment with a strong ownership mindset.
  • Excellent problem-solving, planning, and execution skills.
  • Effective team management and communication abilities.
  • Deep understanding of the logistics industry, including regulatory frameworks, market trends, and competitive landscape in Nigeria.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess needs, identify opportunities, and measure outcomes effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, capable of building rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Resilience in the face of challenges and ability to adapt strategies to overcome obstacles.
